Emojis work basically anywhere today, including in Microsoft Word documents. Beautify your documents with colorful emoji icons that work on all modern operating systems, including Windows 10, macOS, iPhone, iPad, Android, and the web.
You can type emojis in Word the same way you type emojis in other applications. When typing in a Word document, use the appropriate keyboard shortcuts for your operating system:
- In Windows 10, press Windows +. (period) or Windows +; (semicolon) to open the emoji picker.
- On a Mac, press Control + Command + Space to open the emoji picker.
- On your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone, you can use the standard emoji keyboard.
If you’ve used the emoji picker before, this will display the emojis you use most often first – it works great on both Windows and Mac.
On Windows and Mac, you can start typing an emoji name to search for it. For example, to find food-related emojis, type “food”. You can also browse the long list of emojis here to find whatever you like.
Use the arrow keys and press Enter or click the emoji to enter it.
Emojis that you insert into your document will appear as colorful, modern emoji icons. You can resize it and make it larger or smaller by adjusting the font size, just as you would any other text in a document.
These emojis will appear to work when your document is opened in Word on any modern platform that includes built-in support for emojis. However, they will look a little different between platforms – Microsoft, Apple, and Google all have their own unique emoji styles.
By the way, these keyboard shortcuts work in basically any Windows or Mac application, allowing you to enter and use emojis wherever you like. For example, you can even use emojis in your Windows filenames.
