How to play Xbox One games offline

If you are away from home, on vacation, or just on a business trip, and don’t have access to the internet, there are several Xbox games that you can play offline. This is a great choice for you when you want to spend time alone, playing your favorite game.

You must be asking yourself how to play Xbox One games offline? Well, in this article we gather some information to explain how to play your favorite Xbox game when you don’t have access to the internet.

How to begin

At times when you don’t have an internet connection or when Xbox Live is down, you must meet several requirements to play your Xbox One game offline. Before you start playing Xbox games offline, you must set up your console so you can continue playing.

To set your Xbox One for offline games, you must go to the Xbox Guide by pressing the Xbox logo on the controller that you use to play. Next, open the Settings menu in the upper right corner of the Xbox Guide. Click on it and then look for the Personalization header. This must be specified as the second option on the list. When you get there, look for My Home Xbox which should appear in the center of the screen you are viewing.

Down there, at the bottom of the screen, you will see a button containing the message. If your Xbox is set as your Xbox Home, the button will say “This is not my Xbox Home”. This means you must return because your Xbox has been set up. If there is a “Make This My Home Xbox” message on a button, click there. In this way, you will set the Xbox as the Home console.

Disconnect Xbox

Now, when you have set your Xbox to be your Home console, you can disconnect it from the internet. To do this, press option B on your controller, which will take you to the Settings menu. Then select the Network option in the menu that you have opened.

The network menu will allow you to see two options. One header is Network settings, and the other is Network transfer. Select Network settings. Now, you will see the Go offline option. This one you must choose.

At this time your console will be disconnected from the internet and Microsoft servers too. Selecting this option, your game will be stored on your hard drive until you connect to the Xbox Live server at a later time.

One more useful information that Microsoft warns about when playing offline is about unlocking Achievements. Sometimes, you have to be connected to the internet so you don’t lose it because the Xbox One is limited by storing achievements that you have unlocked.

Get back online

To get back online, the procedure is the same as offline, just select the Go online option. So, open the Xbox Guide using your controller, go to the System menu, and select Settings. Search for Networks and select the Online option in Network Settings.

When offline, you can use Xbox One to watch TV, log in to your profile, or change settings on your console. Of course, you can also play games, save them, and make screen shoots during matches or get achievements.

The option to play offline games is great when there are problems with an internet connection, or when you can’t log in on Xbox live. To avoid stress about this, set up your console and enjoy playing when you don’t have access to the internet.
