Permanently remove Microsoft Teams from your Windows PC.
While uninstalling the Microsoft Teams app is simple and straightforward, but you may have noticed that it keeps reinstalling every time you reboot your computer.
This occurs when the Teams app is installed as part of a whole office subscription and not just for one user. In such a case, you will need to uninstall the ‘Whole Teams Machine Installer’ as well to remove the Microsoft Teams app from your Windows PC permanently.
Uninstall Microsoft Teams App
Open the Start menu or click on the ‘Search’ button, present at the bottom left of the Windows taskbar and type ‘Control Panel’. Then, click on the ‘Control Panel’ application from the results.
On the Control Panel screen, select ‘Category’ under the ‘View By’ drop-down menu at the top right side of the window if it is not selected. This will list all the options under different categories.
Select the ‘Uninstall a program’ option under the Programs category in Control Panel.
You will be taken to the ‘Programs and Features’ screen. This screen lists all the desktop applications currently installed on your computer.
Type ‘Teams’ in the search box present at the top right side of the window to search for apps that have the word ‘Team’ in their name. This will help to easily find the ‘Microsoft Teams’ app among the sea of apps you may have on your computer.
Click on the Microsoft Teams app from the list. The ‘Uninstall’ button will appear in the toolbar on the screen. Click on it and uninstall the application from your computer.
This will remove the Microsoft Teams app from your computer. However, if you also have the ‘Whole Teams Machine Installer’, the Microsoft Teams app may be reinstalled when you reboot your PC.
Stop Microsoft Teams from Reinstalling After Reboot.
If Microsoft Teams continues to install on your system, then you will need to locate and remove the ‘Whole Teams Machine Installer’ as well.
Open the ‘Programs and Features’ menu under Control Panel »Program settings on your computer.
Search for ‘Teams’ in the search box. You will see the ‘Microsoft Teams’ app and ‘Whole Teams Machine Installer’. First, click on the ‘Teams Machine-wide installer’ application and then ‘Uninstall’ in the toolbar to remove the software from your PC.
Likewise, uninstall the Microsoft Teams app again if it is installed and listed on the screen.
To further ensure that you have completely removed Microsoft Teams from your computer, you can clean and delete some additional configuration files as well.
Open ‘File Explorer’ on your computer and copy / paste the following folder location (below) in the address bar.
This will list all the Microsoft applications installed on your system. Scroll down until you find the team folder. Then, right-click on the Teams folder and select the ‘Delete’ option.
Uninstalling unused applications from your desktop helps improve your system performance. But make sure it is completely removed from your system. You can also use the Windows Settings menu feature for the uninstall process.
