You just need to add the relevant information on the slides and let Design Ideas do the heavy lifting.
Design Ideas have been a part of PowerPoint for some time. But with the latest Microsoft 365 update, the company added video background support, which takes your boring PPT slides to the next level.

Where’s the Design Ideas in PowerPoint
When you create your slides, add all the information such as text, title, subtitles and images. Now, move to the Design tab in the menu bar. You will see Design Ideas in the right corner. Tap on it, and you’ll see a separate Design Ideas menu on the right side of the slide.
Applying Design Ideas in PowerPoint Slides
Using Design Ideas, anyone with basic PowerPoint knowledge can make a stunning presentation quickly. And that’s the biggest motive behind additional functions. Empower normal consumers with AI tools that increase overall productivity and enable them to get things done.
You need to make sure that you are running the latest version of PowerPoint on your device. For that, open the PowerPoint software and go to File> Account> Update Options and select Update Now. It will check for and install any pending updates.

Step 1: Open the PowerPoint application and select the relevant template.
Step 2: If you are using Design Ideas for the first time, use a simple template on a white background.
Step 3: Add a title and a subtitle. Now move to the Design menu, and you will see many interesting themes and variants. That’s how people have used PowerPoint for centuries.
Step 4: Tap Design Ideas, and you’ll see a separate Design Ideas menu on the right side of the slide.
Step 5: Based on your content, you will see an attractive ready-made design idea to apply to the slides.
Step 6: The first few design ideas will have a video background. Tap on it, and PowerPoint will download the necessary media for you. You can press the play button to preview the live video playback on the slide.
Based on the PPT topic, you can choose from a variety of backgrounds for the perfect start to your presentation. For example, you can choose a financial background for a quarterly report. Or you can use a technology background for IoT (Internet of Things). The possibilities are endless here.
You can use a custom image or company logo and use the Design Ideas menu to get the best design among the text, logos and image backgrounds. In the example below, I’ve added a company logo, name, and simple text and seen what Design Ideas has to offer.
Customize Themes and Use Design Ideas
You don’t want every slide in your presentation to look completely different from the others. If so, you can always choose a theme from the menu above.
Design Ideas are also useful when you want to add bullet points to a topic. Smart enough to understand the context of a sentence, and based on that, and will automatically add relevant icons to it.
In the example below, I added some talking points and Design Ideas voluntarily integrated matching icons. You’ll also find lots of styles to choose from in the Design Ideas menu.
You can also use the Format Background option to set a solid or gradient or an image as a background. Design Ideas will automatically change suggestions based on your preferences.
