How to use Discord for a Chromebook

Discord is one of the most popular communication mediums aimed primarily at gamers. This allows for a variety of communication options. You can make voice calls to a large group of people on the server, video calls, share your screen, and much more. All of these options are available on public servers and private DMs.

One thing I always hear from people is they don’t understand how to use Discord, or they don’t think they can get it on their device. I’m here to tell you that most devices support Discord in one way or another. Your Discord dashboard can also be accessed via a web browser. There’s nothing stopping you from using this excellent service to chat with other people in the community that interest you.

Discord also has an app on google play for those with Chromebook or Samsung devices. You can download Discord from practically anywhere. And if your device doesn’t support discord app, you can always use the browser version.

Downloading Discord

To get started, you will want to visit the Google Play store to find the Discord app. Once you find the app, you will want to click install and the service will start the installation automatically. With the app, it’s set to use more on phones than on Chromebooks, so the menu may appear a bit out of place in full screen.

In that case, you can also use Discord in the browser because the browser looks better on the Chromebook than the actual app. It runs as if you were using Discord on a normal laptop if you used the browser options, and it’s like navigating through Discord if you’re using a normal PC.

In the next section, I will show you how to navigate the actual Discord app that the Google Play Store provides. It’s a little awkward to use, however, it’s nice to have an actual app instead of just using the service in the browser.

Navigate to Discord on the Chromebook

When you first open the app, on the left you will see a list of servers and your friends options at the very top. The menu in this application will close when you are actively chatting on a certain channel.

When you want to type into a channel, you have to open the menu on the left and navigate to the channel or server you want to use. Every time you want to change the channel, you have to open this menu again.

To exit the menu, all you need to do is click to the right of the menu, and it will close and display the current channel you selected.

Joining a voice channel using this application is a bit tricky. First, you want to find the voice channel you want to join. After you click on it, a small window will appear at the very bottom. To see the join button, you have to scroll up with your cursor in the bottom menu. At the very bottom, you will see a channel join button with another camera button next to it. To make a voice call, just select the join voice button. To join your camera, select the button with the camcorder icon.

To access your direct messages, you’ll want to return to the pop-up menu on the left of the app. Here you want to go to the very top of this menu and select the button that looks like a chat bubble. Here you will have access to all your direct messages and friends list.

Conclusion

There are many more things that we can discuss in connection with the application of disputes. But this will give you a brief understanding of that. The apps we discuss in this article are aimed more at mobile devices than Chromebook devices. However, Chromebooks do have the ability to run the Discord app. Personally, I highly recommend using only the browser version of Discord when using your Chromebook.

If you decide to use the Discord app found on the Google Play Store on your Chromebook, I hope this article has provided you with an understanding of how to navigate it. Discord is a great platform for meeting new people and gathering a group of friends online. So I really recommend using it and testing it. You can check out my other articles here and here that go into more depth on how to use Discord and how to take advantage of the resources Discord provides. Have fun!
