Stay Updated on Any Tweet Without Following Them

Following someone on Twitter is an investment. You absolutely agree to have their opinions, scolding, and hot take spit out on your timeline. It can be very annoying quickly if it is known to send controversial comments periodically. However, there are other ways to stay updated on someone’s tweets without you having to press the follow button and enter everything.

Even if you are a regular user, you might have heard of Twitter Lists, which are a curated Twitter account group. Say you want to create a timeline that is only filled by technology reporters; then you can add all your favorite technology reporters from Twitter to the group, and only see their tweets when you are on this list. With this list, you can basically “follow” people, and make their tweets appear in an isolated timeline – without actually following them. Following someone on Twitter is an investment. You absolutely agree to ask their opinion, scold, and heat spit out your timeline. This can be very annoying quickly if known to send controversial comments regularly. However, there are other ways to stay updated on someone’s tweets without you having to press the follow button and enter everything.

1. Create a List

Either log in to the Twitter app for iOS or Android, the mobile web application, or Twitter Lite for Android, tap on your profile icon at the top left to open the sidebar menu. Then, enter “Register.”

1

On the List page, tap the blue icon with a paper list and a plus sign (+) in it. Next, type a title for the group under Name and give a description below it if you want.

Before continuing, decide whether you want the list to be public or private. We recommend making it private so that you can only see the list. Plus, accounts that you add to the list won’t receive notifications that they have been added to your list.

When finished, depending on the application, tap “Create,” “Save,” or “Next.”

2. Add Users to Your List

Now that your personal list is up and running, it’s time to add users to it. If you use the Twitter application for iOS, Twitter Lite for Android, or the mobile web application, you will immediately be asked to add a contact. Suggestions can appear, and you can also search for accounts.

In the Android app, or whenever you want to add a new contact to the list, open the user’s profile and tap the ellipsis icon to see actionable options. Then, from the list of items, tap “Add / remove from List” or “Add to List.” Next, choose your list.

For each version except the Android application, you can select several lists, then tap “Save” or “Finish” to finish. On Android, after you touch the list, it is added automatically to that list, and you return to the profile.

3

Do this for as many users as you want. You can even create unique lists for different users, such as friends, clients, competitors, influencers, reporters, politicians, etc.

3. View Your

After your list is complete, you can view it from the List page. Just tap your list to see the tweets from all the people you added. Tweets will be in reverse chronological order (unlike your regular timeline). You can reply, retweet, favorite, and share tweets like in your timeline – except users won’t know you are “following” them, and you won’t appear as one of their followers on their profile.

4

4. Manage Your Lists

To manage your list, you can enter the list and tap “Edit List.” On the Android application, you must first press the vertical ellipsis to see the “Edit List” option. On the Edit List page, you can change the name and description, make the list private or public, and delete the list (you can also delete the list from ellipses in the Android application). To manage the member list, tap “Manage members” or “Members.”

5

Here, you can see the users on your list. If you want to delete it, tap the red “Delete” button or the large “X” to the right of the account. In the iOS application, there is also a “Recommended” tab where you can add recommended members based on members in the group or group title, and you can also search by username. Whatever it is, tap the blue “Add” button to add members to the list.

6

To add members in the mobile web application or Twitter Lite for Android, press “Add people” from the list info page. The Android application does not have this function.
